Hagia Triada Greek Orthodox Church<\/strong><\/p>\n

Built by the architect Vasilaki Ionnidi in 1880, the church is named after the Trinity. One of the most beautiful examples of eclectic architecture in Istanbul, the church is an excellent combination of the Byzantine traditions and the modern architecture of the era.<\/p>\n

H\u00fcseyin A\u011fa Mosque<\/strong><\/p>\n

Had built by the Chief of Galata Palace Sheikh Al Haramain H\u00fcseyin A\u011fa in 1597, this mosque is colloquially known as A\u011fa Mosque. The mosque, which had a dome when it was built for the first time, was demolished as it had been damaged by earthquakes, and only its original mihrab (niche) and minaret have survived. The Sultan of the time had the mosque repaired in the 1800s; and when it was damaged by the mall construction next to it in the year 2011, it has been restored.<\/p>\n

St. Antoine Catholic Church <\/strong><\/p>\n

The roots of St. Antoine, which is the largest Catholic Church with the largest congregation in Istanbul, go back to the church built in the 1230s. This historic church was called Hagia Sophia of the Latins. Burnt time after time in the 1600s, the church had been converted to mosque at one stage by Sultan Mustafa II. The present church was rebuilt in 1724. The church was demolished again while expanding the avenue in the 1900s and rebuilt in 1906 at its current location. In the section allocated to priests behind the building that is a magnificent Catholic church, Pope Ioannes XXIII also lived while serving in Istanbul.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
